Altamonte Springs

Nestled in the south-western quadrant of Seminole County, the City of Altamonte Springs has always been a convenient location for families to live. Easy access to I-4 and downtown Orlando combined with a multitude of shopping, dining and entertainment venues has kept Altamonte Springs a popular destination.

The City of Altamonte Springs has a wide variety of housing options - everything to deluxe high-rise condos, single family homes and apartments. The schools in Altamonte Springs are generally ranked high. One sought after area is Spring Lake Hills. Located just west of I-4, this established community features larger homes on oversized lots. The community has lake access and many homes are lakefront.


The City of Casselberry is located about 20 minutes from downtown Orlando, and 40 minutes from the Orlando Airport. An hour to the east coast and 2 hour drive to the gulf coast. Casselberry, known as the “Community minded city” is a suburb in the Orlando area. It is predominantly a residential and recreational area with 16 parks and over two dozen lakes. The city's government is unique in that it is a Commission/City Manager form of government in which the mayor and a 4 member commission are elected for four year terms, these elected officials employ a city manager to over see the daily running of the city.

Winter Springs

The City of Winter Springs, started by a wealthy New York merchant, was incorporated in 1959. Of all the Seminole County cities, Winter Springs is the largest in area.

Winter Springs is comprised of many neighborhoods and communities. One of the largest and most recognized is the community of Tuscawilla, which began construction in the 1970's. The community has over 3500 acres of parks and trails.

The City of Winter Springs is located east of Hwy. 17-92. This portion of S.R. 434, just east of Longwood, and continuing beyond the intersection of the Central Florida Greenway (417) encompass the major residential section of Winter Springs. The Greenway provides easy access into Lake Mary to the north and all of eastern Orange and Seminole Counties.


Incorporated in 1925, the City of Oviedo is situated in the most southeastern portion of Seminole County. It has gown in popularity in the last couple of years due to the addition of the Central Florida Greenway (417) and the close proximity to the University of Central Florida.

The popular Oviedo Marketplace is located just off the Central Florida Greenway (417), exit 41. In addition to shopping there are many restaurants and a Regal 22 Movie Theater nearby.

The City of Oviedo maintains a top notch public parks and recreational department. Activities in dance classes, fencing and karate programs for adults including a wide range of sporting options. A long list of children's programs and sports are also available.


Centrally located within Seminole County, the City of Longwood was named after a suburb of Boston by the original homesteader, Edward Warren Henck. Some of the earliest settlers came to the area in the 1850's but many left after the Great Freeze of December 1894. In 1923 the Town of Longwood became incorporated as a city.

The City of Longwood has a very diverse collection of homes, communities and multi-family dwellings. In the early 1970' with the development of Sweetwater Oaks, Longwood became known as the upscale Orlando suburb with its multi-million dollar homes on several-acre lots.

As Lake Mary grew to the north, Longwood expansion pushed outward with large developments along Markham Woods Road. The newer-upscale communities that border Lake Mary along with the grand homes of Sweetwater Oaks has put the 32779 Longwood zip code as one of the wealthiest in the county.

Lake Mary

Lake Mary in Central Florida is considered a relatively new city in Seminole County, but in fact, Lake Mary has been around since the 19th century. The city started with 2 tiny settlements both of which were located along the railroad that connected Sanford and Orlando. Lake Mary did not become an incorporated city until August 7, 1973 even though the chamber of commerce was established in 1923.

Originally considered citrus & agricultural based, Lake Mary has transformed itself into a city with many upscale communities, notably Heathrow Club which was started by fast food giant Polucchi in 1985.

Though there no major malls in directly in Lake Mary, both the Seminole Towne Center and Altamonte Mall are both a short distance away. Throughout the city you can still find plenty of shops and specialty stores sprinkled around.

One of the main draws of Lake Mary is its abundance of upscale dining options. At I-4 exit for 46 A you will encounter the newer Colonial Towne Center with Dexters, popular for their Sunday brunch and nightly entertainment. The national headquarters for Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse has been relocated to Lake Mary and it brings with it one of their most impressive restaurants.


Sanford, one of Central Florida's oldest communities, Sanford was home to the U.S. Army post of Fort Mellon in the 1830's. During the first decade of the 20th century, Sanford was considered one of the largest vegetable shipping centers in the United States. When Seminole County was established in 1913, Sanford was named the county seat.

The City of Sanford is located at the extreme northern end of Seminole County. Sanford is the county seat of Seminole County - in the downtown area, you will find the county services buildings including the Seminole County Courthouse. The Seminole County School Board is in the five-points area of Sanford.
